    Job Summary for Transportation Manager
    Direct, Manage, and coordinate all aspects of the company’s domestic and international transportation strategies as this related to the distribution of goods. This includes oversight of carrier relations, equipment and personnel required to handle shipments into or out of the various facilities associate with the company. Implementation and oversight of the multi-location distribution system and global logistic strategic plan.
     
    Manage outgoing distribution functions and appropriate interfaces both internally and externally of inbound and outbound distribution networks capable of achieving organizational objectives of inventory levels and customer service.
     
    Responsibilities of Transportation Manager
    • Knowledge of and comply with policies and procedures
    • Design, develop and implement both domestic and international strategies
    • Identify hardware and software requirements to support distribution in a multiple facility, multi-modal distribution environment
    • Develop and implement transportation policies to support market delivery requirements
    • Assure timely and efficient preparation and shipment of company products
    • Work cross functionally with sales & marketing
    • Negotiate freight rates, communication shipping and packing requirements
    • Prepare freight costs analysis to measure and track the level of effectiveness
    • Demonstrate expertise in domestic and international regulations that impact the transportation and logistics function include NAFTA, CAFTA, NMFC
    • Direct internal fleet operations and manage routes cased on analysis of route efficiencies
    • Supervise and train drivers
    • Effectively manage staff with the Traffic Department
    • Identify and develop improved methods or preparing small packages and LTL shipments
    • Facilitate the continued development of all current and potential carriers to meet customer requirements
    • Effectively represent the company in the area of carrier claims mitigation
    • Develop and communicate shipping guidelines, policies, and procedures to other departments within the organization
    • Research, implement, monitor and maintain fleet based GPS and electronic logbook
    • Manage and monitor freight bill auditing and payment processing
    • Maintain currency in shipping software and integration opportunities along with common business software
    • Negotiate and manage company vehicle lease program
    • Develop and monitor carrier performance scorecards utilizing defined organizational KPI’s
    • Keep current in transportation and logistic trends
    • Establish department budgets and implement controls necessary to keep expenditures within budget
       
      Requirements of Transportation Manager
    • Undergraduate college degree in Transportation, Supply Chain, Logistic, or related field
    • Developing/planning the future trends
    • Minimum of 5 years of progressive Transportation and or Logistics management
    • Demonstrated experience in freight negotiations, transportation costs saving, and quality management
    • Familiar with and application of new technologies toward logistics and the physical transportation operations
    • Communicate effectively
    • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and meeting management skills
    • Work in a team-oriented fashion and independently
    • Delegate work assignments
    • Ability to efficiently use computer and applicable software
    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret data
    • Produce reports, correspondence clearly and concisely
    • Ability to adapt to changes in work environment
    • Practice safe work habits
    • Able to reach with arms and hands, stand, twist, bend, walk, and sit
    • Employee with frequently lift of move up to 40
       
      Compensation for Transportation Manager
    • $60,000 - $80,000 / Based on Experience
