News Release: Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra Independence Day Celebration

Saint Joseph, 06/03/2019.  What better way to show our love for America than by continuing the tradition of our holiday celebration featuring the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra? Don’t miss patriotic favorites, including Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, with a thunderous fireworks display overhead. The evening will include food for purchase from Lark’s BBQ, Louie’s Red Hots Chicago Style Hot Dogs, and The Icehouse New Orleans style shaved ice. A selection of beer, wine, and pop will also be available for purchase.  Stretch out on a blanket, relax in your lawn chair or gather around a picnic table and enjoy the perfect way to kick off your Independence Day! Please note - park rules will not allow food or drink to be brought in. 
 
Come early to enjoy music fromTthe Van Dyke Revue.  Starting at 6:00pm, this four piece band from Niles will knock your socks off with a playlist including classic rock, folk, blues and country.  Members include John Van Dyke (vocals, piano, guitar, violin), Dave Van Dyke (guitar, vocals, Mississippi Saxophone), Wayne Kuritz (bass, vocals), and Bo Martin (percussion, mandolin, vocals).  
 
The featured performance of the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra starts at 8:30pm.  Listen as the orchestra celebrates the birthday of our nation with patriotic favorites.  The grand finale to this wondrous night is Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture timed to the booming fireworks overhead.
 
Tickets are $30 for reserved seating, $20 for lawn seating, and $10 for children 12 and under (lawn seating only).  Ticket prices will be $5.00 higher day of show.  Information is available at SMSO.org or by calling the Symphony office at 269-982-4030.

 VAN DYKE REVUE:
The Van Dyke Revue was formed in 1999 by father and son John and Dave Van Dyke. Starting out, the band played for tips at coffee houses and any gig they could book. Since then, they have performed more than 2,000 times including in the Florida Keys. This four-piece variety band from Niles, Michigan, has a playlist of over 200 songs that includes classic rock, folk, blues, soul and a little bit of country!
