Come experience the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra’s 2019-2020 Mainstage Season.  The SMSO is committed to bringing the arts to life through the familiar and the exploratory.  Join us for Maestro Robin Foutain’s final season as our director.  His final concert will be Fountain’s Fabulous Finale.

We would like to thank Robin Fountain for his excellent direction of the SMSO for the last 14 years. “The SMSO is a wonderful ensemble, and a wonderful organization. It provides a truly important service to its community.” Fountain said, “It deserves, and will attract, musical director talent that can help ensure its continued success going forward.”  In his time with the SMSO, Fountain has led a transformation of the orchestra’s performance level, repertoire and scope and introduced new initiatives like a summer concert series, a choral partnership (Southwest Michigan Symphony Chorus) and instrumental music instruction for underprivileged and at-risk
youth in the County (Music Makers).  Leadership under Fountain has been characterized by bold, varied, and innovative collaborations.

Our season features classic sounds from Beethoven, Handel, Mozart, Shostakovich, and Debussy.  In addition, we are thrilled to announce, in partnership with The Mendel Center, our special engagement with The Manhattan Transfer.
